PLIP: Search only in current language

Description

This PLIP will detail a feature request that Plone can be configured to search only in the current language, which is the language that is set in the "Language" field, or the site default.

The use-case is that in a multilingual site, a search at the root level will retrieve content in any language. This is probably not what you want, but there should be a toggle in a control panel to allow a site administrator to decide this.

I propose that the default setting is to search only in the current language. However, in this case, the search results page should display an option to show results in any language.

Hello all,

We discussed this at the Framework Team meeting last night and decided that it doesn't make sense for Plone core. Currently, Language is only indexed as part of a linguaplone site, which already takes care of the language filtering. If this PLIP is for factoring out that implementation from LinguaPlone so it can be shared with plone.app.multilingual please submit a new PLIP detailing that proposed implementation change.

Matt
