plone.app.i18n: portal-languageselector should be drop down menu

Description

The portal-languageselector field is currently a section, where all languages are displayed. If you create a site with many languages (e.g. for a world wide project like LibreOffice) the display of the names of the languages (strings) will need a big space in the header. This is a very ugly behavior and destroy the layout of the site, especially the header with the site logo. There is a solution (hopefully easy to implement): put the names of the languages in a drop down menu like the portal-personaltools. Maybe this could be implemented as an option in the language settings inside the ZMI.

Or should the language selector be removed completely from plone.app.i18n, as it's not useful in a site without LinguaPlone (suggested by Hanno here:  http://plone.org/products/linguaplone/issues/274)?
