No Editor Window for Translating Nor Editing Chinese Documents/Events/News Items

Description

I've tried to "translate" the front-page to Chinese, but got no editor window. Then I simply saved the empty page and tried to edit it, but I still get no editor window. The major problem is: There is not even a <textarea/> to work with. In the attached screen shot, you can see the problem. I've tried with both FF20 and Chromium.

no editor window while trying to edit a Chinese document

  • Priority changed from minor to major

The bug prevents me from editing any 'Page' in Chinese, rendering Chinese completely unusable for all normal use cases. I just checked: The problem is reproducible with both Firefox and Chromium, and also across several standard object types (Page, Event, News Item). In other words, having a Plone site in Chinese seems to be nigh impossible atm. To reproduce the problem, it should be sufficient to install these products in a new site:

plone.app.multilingual 1.0rc1

plone.multilingual 1.0rc1

  • Status changed from confirmed to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

this is fixed with:  https://github.com/plone/Products.TinyMCE/pull/56

released:  https://pypi.python.org/pypi/Products.TinyMCE/1.3.5

suggest using the latest version Plone 4.3.2 (plone.app.multilingual = 1.1, plone.multilingual = 1.1.1) that should solve this problem.
please re-verify that it is still an issue on the current latest releases (4.3.2 or 4.2.6) and reopen.

I just tried with a completely empty site (new ZODB, no other addons) and Plone 4.3.2 and p.a.m 1.2.1, and the problem persists. Need a screenshot?

I played some more and found that, in Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), there *is* an editor window, but in Simplified Chines (PRC), there is not.

Strangely, it works well in the my environment(Plone 4.3.2, p.a.m 1.2.1/1.1.1, Chrome 31 and FF 25). I can't reproduce this issue.

jianaijun: What do you suggest that I try? I see the problem with

$ grep lingua bin/secondary
    '/srv/zope/eggs/plone.app.multilingual-1.2.1-py2.6.egg',
    '/srv/zope/eggs/plone.multilingualbehavior-1.2-py2.6.egg',
    '/srv/zope/eggs/plone.multilingual-1.2.1-py2.6.egg',
    '/srv/zope/eggs/archetypes.multilingual-1.2-py2.6.egg',

and FF 25.0.1 on Linux, and with Chromium Version 29.0.1547.57 Built on Debian 7.1, running on Debian 7.2 (217859), where I cannot see the main body edit window, regardless whether I try "Edit" or "Edit with babel view".
