Motivation
The current "Add-on Product Releases" which can be found here found at http://plone.org/products provides a good search interface. However, a complete overview of which products are supporting the which Plone versions does not exist. It is not clear in one view what products are already supporting the latest Plone version. Offering more than 3000 product releases makes it hard to define a roadmap for organisations that would like to use a Plone version and would like to know which products are available.
Assumptions
For the sake of what is relevant today, only the last four Plone versions should be taken into account. This is also to limit the length of the overview. Only products that have any release for the latest three Plone versions will be taken into consideration, resulting in a list which is not too and and practical.
Proposal & Implementation
A view template called http://plone.org/productmatrix should have to be designed, tested and installed. See interaction design in attachment for details.
A table will be generated in which a matrix is presented of product stable version numbers versus the latest four Plone versions. Each version number and product name will have an appropriate link.
Deliverables
- View template
- Localization
- Documentation
Risks
Risks are minimal since it will offer a search similar to the searches done via the current products search interface. Because it will offer a much more practical view, the overall searches made via the current interface might even decrease.
Participants
Maintainer of specific http://plone.org templates.
Progress
Interaction design can be found in attachtment.

A business case for this would be: I'm would like to install Plone with some of its well known products X, Y and Z that are essential for me when I use Plone. Are these products already supported in the new Plone version? If not, in which are Plone version they supported?
Such an overview might also motivate product maintainers to upgrade, test and release new versions of their product if it looks like they are falling behind in supporting a new Plone version, compared to other products. Because, as the interaction design documents, these products will be displayed lower down the list.

I'm sorry Paner: This is all indeed very true, but the proper issue tracker is http://dev.plone.org/plone.org/
